Gant Garrard (aka Gant-Man) is a veteran of over 35 years and is considered one of the most impactful DJ/Producers in the history of House music. Now known for creating the Juke sound, Gant was introduced to DJing at age 5 and landed his first radio mixshow at just 10 years old on Chicago’s WKKC 89.3 FM, where he played until 1997.
In 1995, he released his debut EP It’s About Time on Dance Mania Records, which featured the underground classic “3 Blind Mice.” Known as Chicago’s “Youngest Professional DJ,” Gant became a key innovator of Ghetto House/Juke, later coining the term “Juke” with DJ Puncho in 1998. That same year, he began releasing House EPs under his full name to distinguish his styles, while touring the U.S. and Europe—including a 2000 residency in Ibiza alongside Paul Johnson.
Gant went on to remix Destiny’s Child with Grammy winner Maurice Joshua, becoming the first Juke producer to land a major-label remix with Beyoncé’s “Check On It.” He followed with a standout remix of Green Velvet’s “Shake & Pop” and continued collaborations with Cajual Records. With Fool’s Gold, he dropped the club hit “Juke Dat Girl,” remixed Kid Sister’s tracks (including Pro Nails feat. Kanye West), and toured globally as her DJ, performing at Lollapalooza, CMJ, Brazil’s Nokia Trendz Festival, and Miami’s Winter Music Conference.
Gant has performed with Green Velvet at North Coast Music Festival, appeared at Electric Daisy Carnival Chicago, and had his track “Juke Dat Girl” featured in Tyler Perry’s film “Peeples”. A pioneer and performer with global reach, Gant-Man remains an influential force in House and Juke music.
